Welcome to Kokotos Estate
The Kokotos estate dates back to the 1970s when George Kokotos and his family decided to settle in Stamata, abandoning city life to build their home and create a small vineyard in the hills north of Athens.
The Olive Grove
The estate includes an organic olive grove consisting of approximately 400 olive trees of the Koroneiki and Manaki varieties. The semi-mountainous terroir, organic methods of cultivation and manual harvesting (thus avoiding damage to the fruit) combine to produce extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality. In addition to the choice of varieties, which are considered to be the best in Greece, the cold extraction of the olive oil at a local olive press ensures very low acidity with minimal time from harvest to extraction.
The Vegetable Garden
Our organic vegetable garden covers an area of two acres. Here we grow all types of seasonal vegetables, which means that our guests, and particularly children, have something new to discover and sample at any given time of the year.
The Poultry Farm
Our chickens are free to roam in a generous enclosure surrounding their designer home and express their gratitude by offering us their tasty eggs. In addition to their luxurious habitat, our layers feed on the produce of the neighbouring vegetable garden, supplemented with selected dry food, which lead to the tastiest of eggs. Our guests are welcome to sample freshly-cooked eggs together with our organic vegetable produce.
Our 20 beehives are set in a secluded area of approximately two acres within the estate. Their residents collect nectar from our flower gardens, the surrounding hillsides which are covered in a wide variety of wild flowers, including thyme as well as in the Stamata forest. The honey harvest is a feast for our guests, especially for our younger friends who are welcome to share the fun of the extraction process. The honey is poured from the honeycombs into the centrifuge and from there straight into the waiting pots, which are then sealed without any further processing.

Vineyards & Winery
In 1980, George and Anne Kokotos created a vineyard of seven hectares, planting international varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. Their aim was to produce wine of the highest quality.
The decisive factors contributing to their success are the excellent terroir, with soil which is poor in organic matter but rich in trace elements, the altitude of 450 metres and the well-drained slopes of the vineyards. These ensure the production of top quality grapes, which ripen fully giving a good concentration of fruit, sugars, flavour and aromas.
The vineyards are certified organic and are cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment and the consumer.
